Barren Rock Savannah

The lower plains of the mountain support little flora, but some cling on to life. A dirt track runs across the plain leading up in to the foothills of the mountain and the quarry.

Shell Gas Station

As a film location, an oil change & Carwash doubling as gas station, due to shooting in petrol stations is a big health & safety issue with electricity. So this location doubles up perfectly as a rural or urban gas station. Art department can build the petrol pumps and gas hoses.

Dubai Frame

As a film location the Dubai Frame is a truly impressive building outside. The views inside and upstairs are impressive to the naked eye and show Dubai for the amazing city development it is. However it is not best suited to filming from the interior. The beautiful exterior sculpted frames make it difficult to photograph past, and the glass is not always clean. Luckily if you have time to get the permission you can get a small team on to the roof and that is a site to behold. Dubai is laid out in front of you including the Burj Khalifa.

Narrow Market Streets Bastakiya

Art directors and props can soon turn this in to a working market of any era. There is a prop shop just 45 minutes from here. The narrow streets lined with residential houses and tiny doors, are in a traditional style. The film location of Bastakia (Bastakiya) which is an area of old Bur Dubai, near the Dubai Creek, is great for any period film location or tourism shoot. All Camera equipment and light suppliers are just 20 minutes away. The Bastakiya quarter is one of the oldest residential areas in Dubai and goes back to the 1890s.

Hollywood Villa

This American style villa has many interior styles, from an oak panel billiard room, modern kitchen, to Art Deco bedrooms. The pool looks over the palm and has direct access to the beach. The terrace is an idilic film location setting for a chilled BBQ or a gangster scene.

JLT View Penthouse

This unique penthouse has views of JLT and the sprawling marina end of the city that make it an ideal film location. It wasn’t fully furnished when I took the pictures for a reality show. But you can easily send a scout to see its current state. It has balconies, 2 kitchens, an office reception area and a small home office. There are 5 bedrooms and 2 sitting rooms.

Dry Riverbed Plateau

This filming location has a cracked red earth floor during dry months. It’s created by rains running from the mountainous area and flooding the lower plains with red silt. It’s there for most of the summer but send a location scout to check first.

Tree Lined Urban Residential Street

This Urban Residential Road with much greenery leads to a golf course, and has occasional views of the greens. The club house can cater for crew and if so will allow use of the toilet facilities. Then just arrange your own Kraft service, water coolers etc..

Wayayah Desert Dunes

This is a very easy desert film location to shoot. It’s sand ranges from yellows to red. It has a hard surface track all the way to the dunes. It has some flora so more vegetation after the rains.

Hideout Barge Lagoon

This inlet is home to several barges not currently in use. The top end can be blocked off and controlled. As a film location it offers a wide variety of options from boat chases, to gangland hideouts. Due to the fact it is closed on its three longest sides the inlet is protected. Underwater photography here gives a  clear view and the sea temperature is around 33.2°C (91.8°F) Not a perfect 36 but close. There is a diving centre at one end of the lagoon for air and PADI dive support.

Barges, pontoons and platforms can easily be manufactured here and then launched, there is tug capability to tow them just out to sea and securely anchor them. There is a Lloyds qualified welder close by. Plenty of support boats and camera platforms nearby.
